Tribes

Painted bodies, bold hairstyles and peculiar language. The tribes, whether they are ethnic or urban ones, keep similarities even when separated by thousands of miles - or hundreds of years. In my project Tribes I gathered characters with different backgrounds and cultures in an unlikely conversation, during a cocktail party. In each image, an ethnic tribe representative ( Maasai , Yanomami , etc.) meets a character from an urban tribe (Rockabilly, Punk, for example). The illustrations suggest a global dialogue in which differences bring people closer instead of creating a distance between them. The exhibition was chosen by the Porto Alegre City Hall to be shown in the Usina do Gasometro public art gallery during 2013.
